Kathleen Fletcher Bacer, EdD, is a professor emerita and creator/director of APU’s Online Master of Arts in Educational Technology program. Her expertise stems from 19 years of K–8 classroom teaching and nine years of training teachers in classroom management and manipulative math techniques. Bacer’s fundamental interests revolve around training teachers how to effectively embrace and utilize technology in the K–12 classroom, thus empowering the construction of knowledge.
Her teaching models a belief that critical to any teaching/learning process is the ability to effectively connect with the learner, enabling them to transform the instructional delivery system into a personal educational experience. Her research and leadership includes connecting effective teaching pedagogy to diverse learning styles, implementation of emergent technologies, nurturing and sustaining dynamic online learning communities, and promoting cross-cultural classrooms through global learning telecollaborative projects. Known for her innovative and creative techniques, she has created a model for effective online learning environments with multidimensional designs.
