Glendora Unified School District and Azusa Pacific University are joining together to create a pathway to college for Glendora High School students. The Glendora Board of Education approved a memorandum of understanding with APU at its June 26, 2017, meeting. This agreement provides Glendora High School students who meet admissions requirements with guaranteed admittance to APU, a $10,000 renewable scholarship, application fee waiver, and support with the application process.
“This is a tremendous chance to partner with APU – a terrific, nationally ranked university right in our own backyard,” said Superintendent Robert Voors, Ed.D., who holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. “I know firsthand the excellent opportunities APU provides its students and this relationship certainly fits with the college going culture at Glendora High School, a nationally ranked high school. Our entire school community is grateful for the opportunities this presents to our students.”
The agreement begins fall 2017 and also includes this year’s graduates who met the program’s academic requirements. Incoming high school freshmen who successfully follow the academic pathway all four years will be eligible. In addition, current sophomores and juniors, who meet the requirements, may pursue this educational option.
“Azusa Pacific University and Glendora already enjoy a strong partnership with more of their high school graduates enrolling in our university than from any other district,” said President Jon R. Wallace, DBA. “As the first choice for so many of their graduates, we are committed to making college accessible and affordable for Glendora students and their families.”
