Azusa Pacific University Hosts Spring 2022 Commencement Ceremonies

Approximately 1,598 students will graduate from Azusa Pacific University on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the university’s spring commencement ceremonies. These graduates will earn a total of 1,615 degrees including 726 bachelor’s, 739 master’s, and 52 doctoral degrees. Ceremonies include:
Saturday, May 7
- Traditional undergraduates ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
- Graduate ceremony at 4 p.m.
Ceremonies take place on APU’s Franson Field, located on East Campus, at 901 E. Alosta Ave., in Azusa. Both commencement ceremonies will be livestreamed through apu.edu/live with closed captioning available via APU Facebook Live.
The commencement speaker for the ceremonies is Kenneth L. Waters Sr., PhD. Waters is associate dean of personnel, contracts, and undergraduate studies and a professor of New Testament in APU’s School of Theology, teaching in the undergraduate Division of Religion and Philosophy and Azusa Pacific Seminary. He came to Azusa Pacific after 28 years of serving across the country and across denominations as a pastor. He was president of the Pacific Coast Region Society of Biblical Literature, and is program chair of the New Testament Epistles and Apocalypse Section. He is the author of several books, including Afrocentric Sermons: The Beauty of Blackness in the Bible (Valley Forge: Judson Press, 1993) and I Saw the Lord: A Pilgrimage Through Isaiah Six (Nashville: Upper Room Books, 1996). He has also made appearances on the History Channel and other broadcasts.
