The Los Angeles Times recently featured Azusa Pacific University alumnae Blanca and Susan Rubio. The article detailed their story from being deported as children to becoming U.S. citizens and the first sisters in California history to serve in the state legislature.
In 2016, Blanca Rubio '99, M.A.'03, was elected as an assemblywoman representing the 48th District, which includes more than 15 cities and rural areas in the San Gabriel Valley. She selected APU as the site of her swearing-in ceremony due to the university's major impact on her life.
