APU students have the ability to access their own student records via the online Student Center at home.apu.edu, or by showing proof of identification in Student Services Center. In accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), parents have access to directory information1 only, unless their student chooses to share information with them via their Student Center.
Certain information is never available over the phone. Only items categorized as directory information can be given out over the phone at the university’s discretion.
FERPA
The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that affords students certain rights with regard to their educational records.
Under FERPA, students have the right to view their academic records, and release or restrict information to others. Parents can only access directory information1 and/or information that their student has specifically released to them. Anyone else (except APU staff and faculty) can only access directory information at the university’s discretion, assuming that the student has not restricted access to his or her record.
In order to release information to parents or any other third parties, students must log in to their Student Center and select the Privacy Information link at the bottom of the page. From there, they can authorize individuals to receive information and indicate what kind of information can be shared. To restrict information, students must contact Student Services Center.

Parents can make payments online through our online Billing and Payment System.
