Biography

Phil Shackleton has worked as a composer and arranger in the Los Angeles area for more than three decades. He composed the music for the recent film, Media Malpractice. His recent original choral composition May Christ Be At Home In Your Hearts is published by Lorentz/Roger Dean Publishing. He has arranged for the Orange County Master Chorale; live stage shows and musical theater including the Tinseltown Awards Show, the Citrus Singers, and the Candlelight Pavilion; many live and taped radio and television broadcasts; educational video and film; the Jobim Retrospective in New York City; Gospel recordings and performances including Andrae Crouch, Doug Oldham, and the Continental Singers; professional, industrial, and trade show presentations and videos; Las Vegas stage acts; and cruise line stage shows. His published arrangements include choral/orchestral and other choral works, a dozen children’s musicals, and many piano transcriptions and adaptations. His original compositions and arrangements have been performed around the USA and in Europe at universities, festivals, churches and cathedrals, concert halls, etc.

Phil Shackleton has been a music technology consultant for major jazz musicians, film composers, recording engineers, and publishing houses. He specializes in using Logic Pro software for composition/arranging, audio recording and editing, real-time MIDI data processing, plug-in configuration, sample library setup, synthesizer programming, and special applications. In addition to his music technology projects, Shackleton has also engineered and produced albums and music for video recording projects. Phil Shackleton was selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2005, and is in demand as a consultant to higher education in using music technology to teach music theory/composition and production.
