This fresh take on the classic story features a charming blend of timeless tunes and a modern, humorous script. The production will showcase the iconic songs by Wilson, including “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Till There Was You,” and “Goodnight My Someone,” complemented by a witty and romantic new libretto from Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane. The performance promises to be a memorable experience for audiences of all ages. The Music Man is directed by Mathew McCray, who also directed APU’s productions of Cinderella and Murder On The Orient Express. McCray is a professional director that was recently nominated for an LA Ovation Award for his direction of Rent.

APU's production of The Music Man features almost 30 artistically gifted students who will create the iconic community of River City, Iowa, in the Warehouse Theatre,” McCray said. “A Tony Award winning show, The Music Man has been produced regularly since its Broadway premiere in 1957. Its appeal relates to a beautiful mix of charming characters, humorous neighborhood drama, and a reverberating patriotism shaped by the show's quintessential Americana look.

APU’s plays and musicals are produced through a program of rigorous training. The Department of Theater Arts prepares outstanding, innovative, and influential artists in an ever-growing and multi-faceted performing arts profession.
