Prior Learning Assessment for Professional Students
We are currently revising our Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) guidelines for the website. If you have immediate questions about Prior Learning Assessment opportunities during your professional program, please contact your academic records specialist for information.
What is Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)?
Prior Learning Assessment, commonly referred to as PLA, is the evaluation of learning that took place outside the traditional classroom setting for the purpose of awarding college credit. PLA can shorten your time to degree completion and save you money if you can demonstrate college-level learning from life experiences that are associated with specific academic areas of study. Some forms of PLA include CLEP exams, development of a portfolio of prior learning with supporting documentation (PLP), transfer of credit evaluation, and training and certifications evaluation.
