As an assistant professor of nursing at Azusa Pacific University, Ragi George, PhD, is passionate about orchestrating evidence-based teaching-learning practices for nursing students that foster student-centric learning experiences and higher-order thinking skills that promote positive patient outcomes. As a nurse educator, she is committed to empowering graduates with essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become trendsetters in the professional nursing practice by advocating for change, innovation, and lifelong learning.
During her 21 years of nursing experience in the US and India, she served a diverse patient population and mentored students in diploma nursing and undergraduate and graduate-level nursing programs. In addition to being a certified team-based learning practitioner, she is a certified nurse educator (CNE), certified medical surgical nurse (CMSRN), and certified gerontology nurse (GERO-BC). She earned her PhD in nursing from Wilkes University, completing her dissertation on entry-level master’s (ELM) nursing students’ classroom engagement, critical thinking disposition, and experiences with team-based learning.
George currently teaches second-degree accelerated nursing students in the ELM program and nursing education (NED) students at APU. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in the fact that transformative learning results from the conscientiously designining student-centric learning experiences that intellectually challenge and stimulate deep learning, and incorporate elements of accountability, teamwork, and collaboration in the process.
In addition, she advocates for promoting excellence in teaching, scholarship, practice, and service by collaborating with faculty colleagues to nurture a positive student learning environment that supports diversity, cultural sensitivity, equity, and inclusivity as fundamental to the holistic educational approach.
