Biography

Mark Bernier, PhD, works primarily on Kierkegaard, philosophy of hope, philosophy of religion, and existentialism, but his first philosophical love was Leibniz. Some of his wider interests include metaphysics, the early modern period, ancient philosophy, and the nature of the self. His book, The Task of Hope in Kierkegaard (Oxford University Press, October 2015), explores the nature of hope and its importance in Kierkegaard’s thought. He lives in Irvine with his wife, Chris.
