Kaitlyn Fitzgerald, PhD, teaches a variety of statistics courses at APU. She sees data and statistics as tools that have power to unearth knowledge, to illuminate injustices, and to tell stories that otherwise remain hidden, which can in turn empower people to think and perhaps respond differently in the world. She enjoys equipping students with these tools and helping them discover ways to use data for social good.
Fitzgerald earned her BS in Mathematics from Olivet Nazarene University and her PhD in Statistics from Northwestern University. Her research focuses on methods for synthesizing and translating statistical evidence in the social sciences, with particular experience in education policy and global development applications. This includes work in the areas of meta-analysis, data visualization, and statistical cognition. She loves engaging in interdisciplinary work and helping students find ways that statistics intersects with their interests and their faith.
