Assistant Professor
Jennifer Tran, PhD, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, CNS, is a dedicated nurse practitioner, educator, and military officer committed to advancing health care for underserved populations. Born and raised in El Monte, CA, she joined the U.S. Navy at seventeen, serving as a hospital corpsman from 2001-07. After her honorable discharge, she pursued nursing, earning multiple degrees, including a PhD in Nursing from Azusa Pacific University.
She currently serves as an assistant professor at Azusa Pacific University, a Christian institution where she integrates faith-based principles into her teaching and mentorship. She previously taught in the MSN-FNP program at the University of Southern California and continues to guide future healthcare providers. Clinically, she works as a street medicine provider with Healthcare in Action, delivering compassionate care to individuals experiencing homelessness.
Her military service continues as a nurse corps officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, where she provides care for service members and their families. Passionate about mentorship, research, and faith-driven service, Jennifer focuses on homelessness and veterans’ mental health. She remains dedicated to improving healthcare access, training future nurses, and advocating for vulnerable populations while upholding Christian values of compassion, service, and healing.
