David Beatty, MM, MBA, has been a professional musician in Los Angeles since 1978. As a studio trombonist, his performance credits include music for motion pictures, television, commercials & artist recordings. His playing can be heard on many records for companies such as Disney, Integrity’s Hosanna Music, Maranatha Music, and for artists such as Sandi Patti, Andrae Crouch, & Ralph Carmichael. He has performed with several symphony orchestras in Southern California, as well as for many musical theatrical productions. He is a founding member of the California Brass Ensemble. His jazz experience ranges from the Wildlife West Big Band of Bill Watrous & Dove Award-winning Ralph Carmichael Big Band to global tours with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. In addition to his performance credits, he is a music copyist, with hundreds of motion picture & television projects to his credit. His credits as a music educator include co-creating the Southern California Brass Ensemble Educational Program with The Orange County Philharmonic Society’s “Meet the Musicians” program & he has been invited to teach & perform at the Conservatory of Music in Shanghai, China. He currently serves on the administrative board for California Alliance for Jazz, faculty of the Idyllwild Arts Summer Jazz Academy & is in demand as a clinician & festival adjudicator. At APU he is the Chair of the Commercial Music Department & directs the award-winning Azusa Pacific University Jazz Ensemble.
