Christie Byrd, MSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of professional social work experience. She teaches field seminar courses and assists with the administration of MSW field education. Byrd has clinical experience in the areas of school-based mental health, Department of Mental Health-contracted community mental health, court-mandated clients on parole and probation, intimate partner violence, sexual assault crisis response, residential substance abuse treatment, and trauma-informed clinical work with children, adolescents, and adults. Prior to joining APU in 2020, she enjoyed providing field instruction and clinical supervision to MSW student interns and MFT trainees from various local universities. Byrd continues to contract with agencies and individuals to provide clinical supervision for associates obtaining hours for Board of Behavioral Sciences licensure. She strives to cultivate an enriching learning environment for students to build self-awareness, develop their professional skills, and discern their calling. Byrd has a passion for social justice, trauma-informed care, and mentoring difference makers.
