Preparing Professional Psychologists

With a focus on extensive real-world training, APU’s Department of Clinical Psychology prepares culturally competent, faith-informed practitioners. Accredited by the American Psychological Assocation (APA), the department’s PsyD in Clinical Psychology program emphasizes hands-on service in addition to rigorous coursework, including more than three years of supervisied clinical training. In addition, our Community Counseling Center offers ongoing research, training, and education opportunities for students, allowing them to actively make a difference by providing services to their local community.

As we prepare our students to enter the field, we analyze the field of psychology from a Christian worldview—in addition to intentional instruction on caring for clients from different faith backgrounds. As a result, we graduate practioners distinct in their ability to provide holistic care to a diverse range of clients.
