Biography

Derek Vergara, EdD is currently the Dean of Students at Orange Coast College. Vergara began his career in student affairs in 1987 and has worked at UC Riverside, UC Irvine, University of La Verne, Concordia University, Fullerton College, and Pepperdine University in a variety of student affairs roles. Vergara has taught courses at the University of La Verne, Citrus College, Azusa Pacific University, and Brandman University’s doctoral program in education. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Sciences from Azusa Pacific University and a Doctorate degree in Education, emphasizing Organizational Leadership at the University of La Verne.
