One Stop Opens Its Doors
August 27, 2012 | Written By University Relations
This integrated approach comes as a relief to students who previously expressed frustration with having to manage advising, registration, enrollment, and financial services at multiple locations. The center, located on East Campus in the modular buildings, now serves as a single location where students can get answers to questions regarding adding or dropping classes, financial aid, transcripts, transferring courses, and much more. One Stop staff members are now available to help students face-to-face, over the phone, and online.
The need for the center was first identified by David Dufault-Hunter, vice president of enrollment management, after a thorough evaluation of the old system. In fall 2011, Dufault-Hunter and his team developed the plan for the One Stop Office that put serving students’ needs first.
Since then, the enrollment services team has been hard at work preparing for students’ arrival this fall. “Employees had to undergo new training to become proficient in multiple disciplines and be valuable resources for students who come through the door,” said Dufault-Hunter. “On any given day, students and their parents will have questions about financial aid or student accounts that were once handled in separate offices. The One Stop staff must be able to address all these specialized services.”
Angie Di Claudio ’89, director of One Stop, was brought on to lead the new office, and brings with her valuable experience in student and career services. “We’ve identified a team of outstanding service providers and empowered them with resources, tools, and training to offer our students and parents this unique integrated administrative service,” she said.
Students are already dropping by the new office and expressing their gratitude for the restructured approach to student services. “As athletes, we have very busy schedules and we don’t often have time to visit several offices to get our classes figured out,” said Emily Wood ’13, a soccer player. “It was nice to go to only one place where I could get everything ready for the fall semester!”
