Windy Counsell Petrie earned her BA in English from Pepperdine University, and her MA and PhD from the University of Delaware. Her teaching and research areas include Autobiography, 19th and early 20th century American and British Literature, Narrative Economics, and the representation of religious and political experience in Russian and Post-Soviet era fiction and memoir. In 2006, she was selected as a Fulbright Scholar to Lithuania, where she lectured on tropes of exile in 19th and 20th century novels, as well as the roles of women and minorities in American literary history. She has published essays and reviews in a/b: Autobiography Studies, Christianity and Literature, Literatura, American Writers, and in the collections American Writers in Europe (Palgrave Macmillan), Postmodernism and Beyond (Cambridge Scholars Press), and Teaching Edith Wharton’s Major Novels and Short Fiction (Palgrave Macmillan). Her book, Templates for Authorship: American Women’s Literary Autobiography in the 1930s, has recently been released by the University of Massachusetts Press.
