Stacy Kula, PhD currently serves as the Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, which houses the School of Education and the School of Behavioral Sciences. She previously served in the role of Professor and Chair of the Educational Leadership Department, specializing in qualitative research methods and research writing. In addition to her expertise on qualitative methods, her research has focused on factors of achievement for low-income immigrant students, family-community-school partnerships, multilingual education, and effective teacher education for urban contexts. She has been awarded the Tae Kim Han Award for commitment to culture and humanity in her research, as well as the Rose Leigler Graduate Faculty Scholarly Achievement Award. Her published works have focused on Latino and Asian immigration and educational experiences (with emphasis on Indochinese groups) as well as on international and multicultural teacher education experiences. She is a co-editor and contributor to the book, High Achieving Latino Students: Successful Pathways Toward College and Beyond, which received AAHHE's 2020 Book of the Year award in the Edited Volume category.
Though she continues to pursue research on factors of achievement, her commitment at APU now revolves around leading in a way that best serves the community of faculty, staff, and students under her span of care. Having been an educator for 30 years, she sees it as her calling to serve in a way that facilitates the realization of the Lord’s purposes and potential for each individual.
