Gregg Moder, DMin, has worked extensively at the intersections of theology, youth ministry, art, and community development for over 20 years as a Professor of Practical Theology, pastor, and consultant. He served as founder and Chair of the Youth Ministry Department for Patten University in Oakland, CA for 15 years, as well as in pastoral ministry working with youth from diverse backgrounds, and with vulnerable populations as founder and Senior Pastor of a local church in Oakland, CA. Moder's published works center on his passion for integrating urban outreach, community development, and youth ministry education, with a particular emphasis on arts as a medium of transformation and faith formation. His journal articles include, "Approach Wise Dialogue with Our Technological Test Pilots: Re-framing the Story of Digital Progress" (Journal of Youth Ministry, 2016), and "Bridging Youth Ministry Gaps Through Youth Organizing: Actuating Urban Teens as Transformative Leaders" (Journal of Youth Ministry, 2020). Moder has been an ordained minister for many years, is a passionate artist with numerous pieces and exhibits, and is currently a resident scholar at the Huntington Library in San Marino. He is also actively involved in the Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) and Urban Youth Workers Institute (UYWI), and the American Academy of Religion.
