B. J. Oropeza, PhD, University of Durham (England), is Professor of Biblical and Religious Studies at Azusa Pacific University and Seminary (Azusa, CA). His many academic publications include works such as Perspectives on Paul: Five Views (Baker Academic), the Scripture, Texts, and Tracings series (Fortress Academic), Practicing Intertextuality (Cascade), 1 Corinthians (New Covenant Commentary series), Exploring Second Corinthians (SBL Press), Jews, Gentiles, and the Opponents of Paul (Cascade), and Jesus and Paul (Festschrift for James D. G. Dunn; T. & T. Clark). He founded the Intertextuality in the New Testament Section of the Society of Biblical Literature and is on the editorial board of the Rhetoric of Religious Antiquity series (SBL Press). He is also a member of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas (SNTS) and contributed to the translation of the New Revised Standard Version updated edition of the Bible (NRSVue). Oropeza’s current interests include Pauline studies, Romans, new and post-new perspectives on Paul, and Intertextual studies.
