Soeun Kim, PhD, is program director of APU’s Graduate Program in Applied Statistics and Data Science, and teaches various courses in statistics, including core courses and electives. Kim obtained her PhD in Biostatistics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and after graduation, she worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science at the University of Texas Health Science Center. Kim has also taught mathematics and statistics abroad in the U.K. and in Korea, and has been involved in statistical methodology research with various clinical applications.
Kim’s research experience incorporates the development of statistical methodology and extensive collaborative work with experts in diverse fields. Her expertise lies in statistical research focused on statistical methods for incomplete data, which is useful in all disciplines including biostatistics, business analytics, education, psychology, as well as clinical research. Kim is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaboration in mental health research and clinical trial applications.
Kim is passionate about mentoring students, actively involving students in research, and advising graduate students on projects and dissertations. She is also passionate about spiritual formation and faith integration, and enjoys playing the violin.
