Hilary Catling, MA, is a licensed marriage and family therapist in California and supervises interns for a community-based clinic in Southern California. She has been teaching at Azusa Pacific University for a number of years, and her passion is to teach the next generation of therapists to become all God made them to be. She believes in continued intellectual and spiritual growth over the life span, which includes the integration of faith into her clinical practice, her classes, and all aspects of her life. Before licensure, Catling did lay counseling in various churches in Northern California. With 20 years of practice, she specializes in treating children and their families who have been traumatized, including families involved in national and international kidnapping cases. She is a frequent trainer and seminar speaker on topics such as The Importance of Art and Play as Healing Tools, Boys 101, Treating Trauma in the Family, Grief and Traumatic Loss, Treating the Sexually Abused Child, and Trust Issues. She has been published in The Therapist with articles on “Treating Trauma in the Family” (November/December, 2012) and “Mindfulness in Supervision” (September/October, 2013). In addition, Catling has received awards from the California State Senate and California State Assembly for outstanding mental health provider/employee.
