Artist’s Transformation: Dario Navarro still remembers the third-grade teacher who took an interest in his drawings at a young age. Now the tables are turned, and Navarro himself is an art teacher offering encouragement to high school students. Through the MFA program, Navarro seized the opportunity to continue full-time work as an educator while advancing his education and creativity, which extends to hand-building the panels that become his paintings. “The program does a great job training students for what to expect as working artists,” he said. “It has helped me find my voice and purpose.”
