Coursework
Coursework for the design studies major introduces students to elements and principles of two- and three-dimensional design; design software; typography, storytelling; branding and systems design; user experience and web design; and design history. Students also choose from a variety of design electives to focus on particular areas of interest.
In every class, design students work with expert faculty who provide individual mentorship and bring their real-world experiences into the classroom while helping students network within their fields. The university’s proximity to Los Angeles and Hollywood affords APU faculty and students the opportunity to engage directly with and be exposed to industry leaders in design. Design students can also participate in internship opportunities to gain valuable, on-the-job experience.
