Design an Education to Reach Your Goals with the Interdisciplinary Studies Degree

If the path to your dream does not take you through one of Azusa Pacific’s traditional major programs, the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies may be for you. Create your own education journey, focusing on two to three fields of study specific to your career goals, with the added benefits of a faculty advisor to help guide you and courses designed to help you discern your unique calling.

Rapid technological advancement is changing the world and creating brand new career fields while making others obsolete. This new working landscape requires a new type of college graduate—one who possesses a broad understanding of the liberal arts and sciences and deep knowledge of two or three specific disciplines. APU’s interdisciplinary bachelor degree will prepare you, with your particular strengths and calling, for the working world.

How It Works

  • A core of 18 units focusing on exploring and discerning vocation allows you to dive deep into your identity and calling, identifying a clear direction for your studies and exploring how to integrate your work in your chosen disciplines.
  • Choose two or three fields of study and build a degree program with the help of a designated faculty advisor.
  • Co-creating your education experience means using your time in college to prepare for the work you feel called to do, even if that requires knowledge and training in different disciplines.
  • Gain real-world experience through internships and service-learning opportunities to get a feel for what you truly love to do.
  • Complete a capstone project to articulate what you’ve learned and why it’s valuable, preparing you for a competitive job market.
