Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera is based on a French novel by Gaston Leroux. Based in the 19th century, it tells the story of a beautiful soprano who becomes the obsession of a masked, musical genius living beneath the Paris Opera House. The Phantom of the Opera is luxuriously orchestrated and acted, magnificent in scenery and costumes, and awesome in scale.
