Ana-Maria Gallo received her BSN degree from Point Loma Nazarene University, a Master and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Nursing from University of San Diego, and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Nursing Symptom Management at the University of California, San Francisco. Her 27 years in a health care organization included roles such as Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist and Director of Nursing Education, Research and Professional Practice. Gallo has recently transitioned into academia as a professor and site director at Azusa Pacific University. Gallo is an experienced nurse researcher and her areas of funded research include patient controlled epidural anesthesia, characteristics of sleep in the obstetrical high risk population and new graduate sleep fatigue. Gallo teaches research and scientific writing. She is a member of National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialist, Association of Women’s Health Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International, Association of California Nurse Leaders, National Association of Hispanic Nurses and the Association of Legal Nurse Consultant. Gallo has received awards for her nursing research and evidence-based practice projects. Some awards include the Sigma Theta Tau International Excellence in Nursing Research Award, Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurse: Johnson & Johnson Klaus Mother Baby Nursing Research Award, and Nurse of the Year for Advancing the Profession for Sharp HealthCare. She has numerous publications and serves as a legal nurse consultant and expert witness on obstetrical cases.
