Diana Glyer Honored with Undergraduate Scholarly Achievement Award

AZUSA, Calif. –
Azusa Pacific University recently recognized Monrovia, Calif. resident Diana Glyer, Ph.D., professor of English, as the recipient of the 2008 Undergraduate Scholarly Achievement Award. This award emphasizes Glyer’s excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. She will receive $2,000 and a clock.
In addition to teaching, she has published extensively on C.S. Lewis, J.R. R. Tolkien, Joy Davidman, and the Inklings. Her book, The Company They Keep: C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien as Writers in Community, examines the influences the Inklings had on each other’s writings.
Glyer’s past achievements include receiving the Chase A. Sawtell Inspirational Teaching Award in 2002, as well as the Clyde S. Kilby Research Grant in 1997.
Glyer holds a B.S. in English and Art Education and a B.A. in English and Fine Arts, both from Bowing Green State University. She also received an M.S. in Education from Northern Illinois University and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
