Azusa Pacific University's Center for Research in Science (CRIS) welcomes Roy Clouser, professor emeritus of philosophy and religion at the College of New Jersey. 

WHAT:
Lecture: "The Character of Christian Ethics"

In this lecture, Clouser will contrast the two most widespread theories of ethics, rationalism and utilitarianism, to the ethic of love taught in scripture. This will be an exposition contrasting Christian ethics with the rationalism of the western philosophical tradition of Aristotle and Kant, and the utilitarianism admired in the current English-speaking world.

FACTS:
Clouser holds a B.A. from Gordon College, a B.D. from Reformed Episcopal Seminary, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Along the way, he also studied with Paul Tillich at Harvard Graduate School and with Herman Dooyeweerd at the Free University of Amsterdam. In 1997 he won a Templeton Award for his course in science and religion. He is the author of The Myth of Religious Neutrality and Knowing with the Heart.
