Azusa Pacific University congratulates Rachel Gonzales-Castaneda, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology, for her selection as a 2015 Emerging Scholar by Diverse Issues in Higher Education.

A prolific research scholar and drug addiction expert,Gonzales-Castaneda is the recipient of a National Institute of Health grant, which allowed her to develop interventions for youth who transferred out of treatment facilities.

The 2015 Emerging Scholars are a diverse group of standout scholars under the age of 40 recognized for the uniqueness of their fields of study, as well as their commitment to service and teaching.
