Former Army Staff Sgt. Matt Blain, a student at Azusa Pacific University, was recognized on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, with "The Soldier's Medal" for heroism, the highest honor a soldier can receive for an act of valor in a noncombat situation. Blain, who served two tours in Afghanistan, saved the lives of four people.
