Several Azusa Pacific alumni have been featured in the news recently, including new Glendora Chief of Police Robert Castro '97 and professional soccer player Steven Lenhart '10.

Robert Castro Named Glendora Chief of Police

Azusa Pacific University alumnus Robert Castro ’97, a graduate of APU's Center for Adult and Professional Studies, was recently named Glendora Chief of Police, pending council approval on January 25. Castro has worked with the Glendora Police Department for 25 years and most recently served as captain.

According to an article in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, as chief, Castro hopes to focus on maximizing efficiency in the department via technology and focusing on individual employees strengths.

Former APU Soccer Standout Steven Lenhart '10 Joins San Jose Earthquakes

APU alumnus Steven Lenhart ’10 was acquired by the San Jose Earthquakes in a MLS draft day trade. The Columbus Crew agreed to trade Lenhart to the Earthquakes for two draft picks and cash considerations.

Lenhart, 24, grew up in Yorba Linda and led Azusa Pacific to the 2007 NAIA title. He wanted to return to California because of family ties, and hopes to integrate his style of play with the Earthquakes in the upcoming MLS season.
