Sanggon Nam, PhD, is an associate professor of public health in the School of Nursing at Azusa Pacific University. Previously, he taught at California Baptist University and Pfeiffer University. He holds a PhD in Preventive Medicine and Community Health (Social Epidemiology) from the University of Texas Medical Branch, a Master of Science in Sociology (Minor in Statistics) from Clemson University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Culture and Mass Communication from Handong Global University in South Korea. He is the first author in more than 10 research papers including the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, Geriatrics & Gerontology International, Archives of Gerontology and Geriatrics, and more. His interests include public health, behavioral health sciences, social epidemiology, nursing, gerontology, minority health, social determinants of health, minority aging, global obesity, diabetes, disability, and mortality, all of which fall under the umbrella of research in health disparities.
