Associate Professor, Division of Teacher Education
My research interests include: the relationship between teacher spirituality and teacher effectiveness; culturally responsive teaching; and research-based assessment practices. With publications in some of the aforementioned areas, I have enjoyed the opportunity to present at both the California Educational Research Association conference, as well as at the American Education Research Association conference. In addition to teaching in the Division of Teacher Education, I have the privilege of serving as a CalTPA (California Teaching Performance Assessment) coordinator for candidates in clinical practice. Other positions I enjoy holding within APU include serving as a senator on behalf of the SOE (School of Education). I am passionate about assisting candidates in their teaching journey. It is my sincere desire to encourage and help equip candidates possess a mindset which will enable them to thrive, rather thank merely survive in the teaching profession. I have found that as we teach from "the soul," allowing our faith and passion to converge, we begin to connect with students in ways that transcend the classroom.
