Karen Soikkeli, MSN, FNP, has 39 years of professional nursing experience. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Azusa Pacific University. She has worked in a variety of settings including: acute care, home health, catastrophic insurance case management, worker’s compensation, hospital case management, and as a nurse educator. She is a leader and patient advocate with decades of experience working with the healthcare interdisciplinary team to promote quality care and ideal health outcomes.

She completed her MSN/FNP at Azusa Pacific University in 2015 and received the Jane Cardea Outstanding Graduate Student Award. Her research on “Cardiovascular Disease: The Hidden Risk in Persons with Rheumatoid Arthritis” abstract was selected by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) in 2015. She is passionate about making a difference in the future generation of nurses and has chosen to teach at APU, her alma mater, which inspired her. Karen’s husband, Richard, is also an APU alumn. They have been married for 37 years. She has two children: Benjamin is 33, who resides with his wife Stephanie in Iowa. Melody, born premature at 23.5 weeks, who graduated to heaven at 7 months of age. She loves flowers, butterflies and hummingbirds.
