Melanie Galloway came to APU from New York City and became an associate professor of music as well as voice faculty and the artistic director of opera.

She has successfully guided her voice students to winning auditions, acceptance, and scholarships to renowned summer programs such as The Academy of the West and leading graduate schools such as Eastman School of Music, Mannes, Manhattan School of Music, and San Francisco Conservatory. Galloway has a love for opera and is passionate about teaching and training young artists in this field, equaled only by her love for performing.

As a lyric soprano, Galloway has delivered performances of quintessential operatic roles such as Mimi in La Boheme, Marguerite in Faust, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Micaela in Carmen, in addition to a variety of modern repertoire, notably the U.S. premier of Judith Weir's The Vanishing Bridegroom with St. Louis Opera.

She received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and a minor in Theatre and Directing on full scholarship from the University of Illinois. She had the privilege of using her gifts to sing in Thailand, the Philippines, and Peru to benefit local churches for world outreach and education.
