David Williams, Ph.D. is an associate professor of philosophy. David teaches in the Great Works program at APU’s High Sierra Campus (located 12 miles south of Yosemite National Park). The High Sierra program uses a “Great Books” format to integrate history, art history, philosophy, and literature. Students combine rigorous academic inquiry with outdoor experiences in the classroom of the spectacular central Sierra. This gives David the opportunity to combine his love of climbing, skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, and hiking with the craft of philosophy. David is a historian of philosophy specializing in Classical Greek thought. His areas of special research are Aristotle’s philosophy of mathematics and his philosophy of biology.
