THIS YEAR: An outstanding hurdler, junior Cliffton Gay teams with NAIA champion Matt Sparks, fellow transfer Chad Thomas, and decathlete David Pichler to give Azusa Pacific an unmatched set of hurdlers in the NAIA … Could push for All-America recognition in both hurdles but excels in the 400 hurdles.

KANSAS STATE: Spent the fall of 2006 at Kansas State but did not compete for the Wildcats … Left at semester break and did not compete during the 2007 spring.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Competed 2 seasons at Central Arizona College as was a member of the Vaqueros’ 2005 and 2006 NJCAA championship teams … As a 2005 freshman recorded personal bests of 51.78 in the 400 hurdles and 14.2 in the 110 hurdles … Also ran a leg on Central Arizona’s 4x400 relay.

HIGH SCHOOL: Split his high school career between South Mountain High in Phoenix, Ariz., and Kenmore High in Akron, Ohio … As a 2004 senior, at South Mountain, won the Arizona 5A championships in both the 110-meter hurdles (14.48) and 300-meter hurdles (38.62) while also running the opening leg Jaguars’ state runner-up 4x100 relay (42.07) … Had a hand in 28 of the South Mountain’s 42 points and fifth-place finish … Spent 3 seasons at Kenmore High … As a 2003 junior was the Akron city champ in the 110 and 300 hurdles … Named Akron Beacon Journal All-City … Also lettered in football (defensive back) at both high schools.

PERSONAL: Born Aug. 12, 1985, in Akron, Ohio … Parents are Benjamin and Naomi Turman … Majoring in psychology.
