THIS YEAR: The greatest distance runner in Azusa Pacific women's track & field history, senior Jaime Canterbury is a 3-time NAIA All-American in cross country and is Azusa Pacific's first-ever national champ, taking the 2007 NAIA individual title ... In track & field, is a 3-time NAIA champion and 9-time All-American and the holder of 3 school records ... Quite versatile and can score on the national level in a variety of events ranging from the 800- to the 5000-meters ... Known for a terrific kick.
2008 (junior): Put together an outstanding 2008 junior season in which she collected 2 NAIA individual titles, 3 school records and 5 more All-America honors ... At the NAIA Indoor Championship Meet in Johnson City, Tenn., had a hand in 24 of the Cougars' 70 points and their second-place team finish ... Won the 3000 (10:10.40) by a whopping 6 seconds over her nearest competitor, anchored the Cougars' 4x800 to a second-place finish (9:18.79) and the distance medley relay to a third (12:00.78) ... At the NAIA Outdoor Championship Meet in Edwardsville, Ill., became the first Cougar ever to win the NAIA 1500-meters (4:26.64) ... Garnered another All-America honor with a third-place showing in the 5000 (17:25.95) ... At the GSAC Championships was second in the 1500 behind teammate Jacky Kipwambok and ran the third leg on the winning 4x800-meter relay (9:10.21) ... Used big meets to record her school records, setting the standard in the 1500 at 4:23.61 (breaking her own record set the year before) during competition at the Mt. SAC Relays ... Also clocked a record-setting 16:34.41 in the 5000 at the Sanford Invitational ... Set the 3000 record of 9:48.45 at the Rossi Relays at the Claremont Invitational.
2007 (sophomore): Collected her first-ever track & field All-America honors, 2 each in the indoor and outdoor seasons, during her 2007 sophomore campaign ... Clinched the Cougars' NAIA outdoor national championship with a then personal-best 4:30.43 in the 1500, finishing second ... Anchored the Cougars' 4x800 to a third-place finish (9:06.81) ... At the NAIA indoor championships, anchored both the 4x800 (9:13.02) and distance medley relay (12:02.23) to fifth– and third-place finishes ... Did not compete in any open events ... Was the GSAC 800m champion (2:18.24) ... Broke the school record in the 1500 with a 4:25.69 in the Southern California USATF Championships at Occidental ... Came back 3 days later to run a career-best 2:11.47 in an 800 at Mt. SAC.
2006 (freshman): Put together a fine 2006 freshman campaign in which she recorded the Cougars' top times in the 800 (2:21.44), 1500 (4:47.77), mile (5:27.06) and indoor 5000 (18:49.99) ... Competed in both the NAIA Indoor and Outdoor Championship Meets, running legs on the Cougars' 4x800 relay that finished seventh indoor and eighth outdoor ... At the GSAC Championships in San Diego, finished fifth in the 1500 and eighth in the 800.
CROSS COUNTRY: Completed an outstanding cross country career with her third NAIA All-American honors in the fall of 2008, finishing fourth at the NAIA Championships with career-matching-best 5K of 17:10 ... Was the GSAC runner-up with a 17:25, finishing behind teammate Jacky Kipwambok ... As a 2007 junior became Azusa Pacific's first-ever NAIA national champion in cross country, winning the individual crown in Kenosha, Wis., with a school-record 17:10 ... Teamed with Aron Rono to make Azusa Pacific only the second school in NAIA history to sweep the men's and women's individual crowns in the same season ... Was the runner-up to teammate Jacky Kipwambok at both the GSAC and NAIA regional championship meets ... Posted 4 sub-18 races ... Put together an outstanding 2006 campaign in which she captured an All-America honor by finishing eighth at the NAIA Championships in Louisville, Ky., with an 18:20 over the 5K course ... At the time, it was the fourth-best showing ever by a Cougar at the national meet ... Clocked a very fine 18:15 to finish sixth at the NAIA regionals ... As a 2005 freshman appeared in 6 meets and was the Cougars' No. 2 runner in 5 of them ... Posted a season-best 5K of 18:50 (her first sub-19) to finish 13th at the NAIA regional championship meet in Fresno ... Clocked a 19:41 at the NAIA Championships, finishing 134th ... Was sixth out of 84 runners at the GSAC Championships, running a 19:14 5K at the La Mirada Regional Park.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ran 3 seasons of track & field and cross country for head coach Rex Hall at state power Dana Hills High in Dana Point, Calif. ... As a senior, named cross country's MVP and track's most valuable distance runner after leading the Dolphins to the South Coast League titles ... Named to Dana Hills' athletics hall of fame for earning 6 varsity letters and all-league recognition in 2 different sports ... Posted cross country personal bests of 18:29 on the Mt. SAC course and 19:01 on the course at Fresno's Woodward Park.
