| Q: | Two years after you figured your athletic career was over. What inside of you prompted you to try football? |
| A: | Playing football was probably the last thing I thought I would be doing in college, especially since I did not play in high school. I still remember my first two years watching the games from the stands with all my friends. I never imagined that today I would be on the field. Two former players, Ricky Burgan and Rory Carlton, strongly encouraged me to try out. It took a lot of convincing, but eventually I ventured into the coach’s office and asked about walking on. I worked out with the team that spring and reported back in the fall for my first ever football season. My receiver's coach, Ryan Allen, really deserves all the credit for the receiver that I am today. He taught me everything I know about being a football player. All I can do know is thank the Lord for my talents, the people placed in my life to get me here today, and the teammates that I get to play with every day. |
| Q: | If forced to choose, which sport would you rather play – football or basketball? why? |
| A: | I am now a football player at heart. There is no greater team sport in the world. I say team sport because one of my favorite things to do is beat up on my dad, brother, and friend Jake in golf, but even that cannot match the feelings I get from playing football. It's the only sport you can get angry and just hit someone as hard as you want with no penalty, except maybe a concussion or two. One of my favorite parts of the year is the beginning of the first home game. The feelings you get when we come out, touch the cross, and begin or pre-game chant are indescribable. The band is playing "Back in Black," the crowd is cheering, and you are surrounded by a hundred guys that all are striving for the same goal. There is no way I would trade that in for any other sport. Besides, my basketball game has gone down the tubes. |
| Q: | What's the secret to growing good pomegranates? |
| A: | Tender love and care mixed in with a lot of hard work. My family farms about 1,200 pomegranate trees on seven acres of land. It's a small orchard, but don't get me wrong, it is a ton of work. Although my mom would say she does all the work, my whole family helps out. We do the tractor work, watering, pruning, weed pulling, and gofer killing. Let's just say that there are some reasons I am glad that I am not that close to home. |
