THIS YEAR: A talented kick returner, senior Trent Sakioka is an impact player who gives Azusa Pacific great diversity among the receiving corps … Has good hands and is noted for his speed … Can turn around a game in a moment’s notice with his punt returns.

2006: Appeared in all 10 games as a reserve during the 2006 season, his first at Azusa Pacific ... Was the Cougars’ top returner and finished fifth in the NAIA punt returns, averaging 14.7 yards over 20 returns ... Had a 69-yard punt return for a TD vs. Dixie State and followed the next week with a 71-yarder for a TD vs. Webber International for the Cougars’ only special team TDs of the season ... Finished with 142 yards on punt returns vs. Dixie State and set up 2 other scores with long returns ... Filled in as a reserve receiver but did not have a catch.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played 2 seasons at Santa Ana (Calif.) College, where he was a 2-time All-Mission Conference pick, which included first team honors as a 2005 sophomore … Also earned All-Mission Conference second team recognition as a punt returner … Had 76 receptions for 877 yards (11.5 avg.) over the course of 2 seasons … Also returned 43 punts for 382 yards (8.9 avg.) … Grabbed a career-high 9 receptions for 153 yards a 28-yard TD catch in a 2005 loss to nationally-ranked Fullerton … Started 19 of the 20 games he played for the Dons.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 3-sport standout at La Habra (Calif.) High, where in football he played for head coach Frank Mazzota … Was a key member on the Highlanders’ back-to-back CIF title teams that combined for a 24-4 record over the course of the 2002 and 2003 seasons … As a 2003 senior, named All-CIF Division IX and All-Freeway League first team after tallying 51 receptions for 1,012 yards and 7 TDs … As a defensive back had 3 interceptions … Also lettered soccer and track & field, posting a personal best of 11.40 in the 100 meters.

PERSONAL: Born July 8, 1986, in Garden Gove, Calif., to Stan (retail clerk) and Candace Sakioka … Has 3 brothers (Geoff, Cobin, Sammy) and a sister (Kourtney) … Majoring in biochemistry ... Wants to be a pharmacist.
