THIS YEAR: A possible diamond-in-the-rough, redshirt freshman Luke Marquardt is set to take to the gridiron for his first live action in 5 years ... Displayed tremendous improvement during spring drills and is expected to be valuable tool in the Cougar offense ... Teams with Tyson Hetzer to give the Cougars a pair of large tight ends ... Is the tallest Cougar ever in program history.
2008 (redshirt): Redshirted the 2008 season at Azusa Pacific, attending classes and working out with the team while reacquainting himself to the game.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played 1 season of varsity basketball for head coach Jim Skagen at Skyline High in Sammamish, Wash. ... As a 2008 senior scored 12 points in 12 games for the 15-11 Spartans, who advanced to the playoffs for the first time in 8 years ... Played freshman football at Skyline in 2004.
PERSONAL: Born March 3, 1990 ... Parents are Adam (pastor) and Pam (coach) Marquardt ... Has 2 younger sisters (Olivia, Joanna) and a younger brother (Aaron) ... Has not declared a major but plans to minor in art ... Would like to eventually work for an international ministry that serves the poor and needy.
