THIS YEAR: A healthy Eric Augustine returns for his junior season, figuring to be an impact player along a rebuilt Cougar defensive front … Quite strong and fundamentally sound, understands the Cougar system very well ... Rated very strong against the run but can apply the pressure in the pass game as well.
2006: As a 2006 sophomore, came off the bench in the first 4 games before suffering a season-ending injury in the Cougars’ home opener vs. Wisconsin-La Crosse ... Was headed toward a fine season, tallying 12 tackles, including 5 vs. Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
2005: Earned a spot on the 2-deep after an excellent set of 2-a-days and thus came off the bench in 6 of the Cougars’ 10 games during his 2005 true-freshman season … Recorded 7 tackles, including 2 in his first collegiate game (vs. USD).
HIGH SCHOOL: Played 4 seasons of varsity football for head coach Jim Kunau at Southern California power Orange Lutheran High … Was a 3-time all-league pick, including his 2004 senior season when he was All-CIF second team, Division VI Defensive Player of the Year and Empire League Defensive Player of the Year … Also named team MVP … Selected to the North squad in the Orange County Prep All-Star game … Earned All-CIF second team and all-state third team honors as a 2003 junior … Also named Empire League defensive lineman of the year … Led the Lancers to a combined 26-2 record over his final 2 seasons which included winning the 2004 CIF title.
