Up Late Pilot Episode Now Online

JACKSON, Tenn. -- Azusa Pacific women’s basketball assistant coach Megan Fate has given Cougar fans worldwide their first look inside the Cougars’ trip to Jackson, Tennessee, for the 2009 NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship tournament. Fate interviewed junior center Kristie Hala’ufia and assistant coach Dan Ploog for a YouTube video segment, as Azusa Pacific awaits its 9:45 p.m. (Central) Thursday night slot for its first taste of the 32-team national tournament.

The Cougars are in the final time slot of the first round, wrapping up 16 games of first-round action in a time frame of less than 40 hours. The action began this morning at Jackson’s Oman Arena, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. contest, the first of 8 Wednesday games, and Thursday’s action wraps up the tournament first round with another 8 contests.

Azusa Pacific is the No. 5 seed in its quarter of the 32-team bracket, and the Cougars play 7-time NAIA champion Southern Nazarene, a No. 4 seed from the Sooner Athletic Conference.
