Get Around, Get Around, I Get Around

On your mark, get set, go! Transportation at Azusa Pacific University has just become more convenient. In an attempt to move students, faculty, and visitors around campus more efficiently, the Office of Facility Management has improved last year’s trolley schedule by doing away with scheduled pickups and converting to continuous service.

“We understand the problems with parking and want students to be able to feel comfortable parking anywhere and jumping on a bus,” said Mike Tavenne, transportation coordinator in the Office of Facility Management.

“I like to go over to West or East Campus for lunch, but there is never any parking. Before you know it,you’ve already wasted a half-hour,” said Raquel Poe, a Graduate Center employee. “ I’ve heard a lot of good things about the trolley and thought I had better try it out.”

The new trolley route includes three scheduled stops: East Campus, West Campus, and Azusa Square. Trolley drivers report to their first stop as early as 6:45 a.m. and help people reach their final destination as late as 11 p.m., Monday through Friday. In order to accommodate the fluctuation in students, four shuttles run during the day and one in the evening.

Three of the four daytime shuttles depart East Campus and travel north on Citrus Avenue and west on Foothill Boulevard before turning into West Campus. The fourth daytime bus travels the opposite direction, traveling south on Citrus Avenue before turning west on Alosta Avenue and into Azusa Square. With all the changes, facility management hopes riders will have no more than a five-minute wait at any stop before the next trolley rolls through.
